I had an older blog on my website www.JoannaBronson.com... So here some older posts for when I started auditioning. Keep note everyone I've starting training a little over a year ago, I graduated College this past December, so I've completely dove into Acting professionally as of this past Janruary 2011. Which means I didn't have the balls to start Auditioning until this past May which is when I started blogging......I also added what came of those audition...You cant win them all (even though you have to nail all the auditions :)

I had hoped I would be better at keeping up with my blog. But here I am. It's been a great month. I did my first print Ad for Life Secure. I also had a busy past week within four days I was on set for three different student films for 40 hours. Plus I still worked evenings whcih comes out to an additional 20 hours. Needless to say I was not sleeping much but the experience was invaluable. I was able to use method acting for long periods of time, take after take. It was a great learning experience. I also got to do a lot of stunt work I was playing an abused spouse so there where a couple of fight scenes. It was a lot of fun. I also landed my first theatrical role in a production called 24 Hours P.M. for the Michigan Actors Studio. So I'm really excited to perform on stage. I just signed up for an intense Shakespeare Workshop in August. It's something I've always wanted to learn and study. Also I'm preparing for my last student film that I'm scheduled for this summer. The character is a sociopath and I really get to do some research on it. I think it's agreat role and I can't wait to start shooting. On a side note I signed up for my first marathon at the end of this month, it's only a 3k but it helps keep my gym routine on par. And last but not least my boyfriend and I just purchased a Canon 3ti camera. We are really looking forward to start the preproduction on some short films we've had in our back pockets. Will start shooting hopefully by late August.

So it's been a busy couple of weeks. I drove out to Kalamazoo to shoot a short film by Video D'Amour Productions. The cast and crew were great and a lot of fun. I went to an open casting call today for "Oz: The Great and Powerful" It was pretty much like being at a Disney Theme Park: long wait for a short and thrilling ride that you just want to get back in line for :) The Summer Semester at the Michigan Actors Studio starts back up this coming week , so I'm looking forward to continue my training in this amazing industry. I got to drive a cop car around the more shady parts of Detroit for one evening this past week as a photo double on the TV series Hung. I got to hang out with a couple of grips and we had a blast driving the car around and flashing the lights on at passing people lol . Fullfilling a childhood fantasy of driving in a cop car.
The Outcome - The short film was my first professional gig. Here is the Trailer (above). I've already seen it but haven't received my copy for my demo reel I'm constructing this month. It was a great first experience and I learned so much: how much of my facial expressions actually read on camera ( need to push it more) and need to punch up my volume. I did get a 17 day offering for an extra role on OZ. Now I turned it down but here me out. It is a dream of mine just to be on this set but that would mean I would not be able to take any classes semester at MAS( Michigan Actors Studio) which since I'm starting out and trying to complete their Certificate program in the next year, Its much needed.

It's been a busy week. Sending out headshots and resumes to a bunch of castings going on at the moment. I've spent most of my week preparing for a Colombian lead role I'm auditioning for in two days. I decided to amp it up by preparing one of my monologues in spanish as well, not as easy at it looks. A little nervous, but really excited.
Outcome- did not get this role but got a great spanish monologue out of it.

And so it begins. Hello world wide web! This marks the official launch of my website. I am ecstatic. Yes, I'm jumping in my chair and smiling ridiculously. If you read my Bio you already know I'm a little bit of a geek :) So, my first blog for my site. Today I will be spending most of my time sending out my headshot and resume to several casting calls I've seen on Twitter. I've counted a total of 15 casting calls put out on the net for the Detroit, Ann Arbor area within in the last couple of days. It was hard holding off on submissions, I know I shouldn't have but I was really focused on getting this website done. So, I'm off to start typing eye catching cover letters, that will fascinate all the casting directors that come to gaze upon them (cue epic music).
Just a quick note: a thank you to those that have been supporting my continuing development as an actress: mi familia and friends, my better half Ryan Moore, and of course the incredible and inspiring staff at the Michigan Actor's Studio. Thank you.
Outcome - I love my life. My first set of auditions on April 16 2011 was an open casting call for Motion Pictures Institute in Troy MI for all the thesis films being produced. I landed 2 lead roles, and 2 supporting. Was both good and bad.. Lots of work for no pay but worth the learning experience and it's a great way to build your resume and now I have enough footage for a reel. When your starting out and you want experience you will be working for free guys..... Like they say learn and perform as much as possible...TUNE THOSE SKILLS.
